And we are headed to Florida to see Bev on the 27th.

A 42 hour Tuesday.

Well it is now Noon on Tuesday here in Raglan. That means that we have completed our first 12 hours of Tuesday and we have 30 hours left to go. This International Dateline thing is confusing.

We will leave Auckland at 7:40PM on Tuesday and land in LA at 10:30AM on Tuesday. And then after a quick stop in Chicago we will be home in Buffalo at 10:20PM, just 3 hours after we left; sort of.


Since we have such a long day and since it is below freezing in Buffalo we decided to start the day at the beach surfing. It is about 80F and sunny with some nice 3-5' waves to slam your skull into the surf. (If anyone wants to try surfing sometime, just give me the $100 and I will hit you with a fire hose. It will be much quicker.) So after a nice lounge at the beach we will be taking a drive along the coast up to Auckland and then over the big pond to the states.

Welcome to Raglan

Well we are in our final days of our trip and we are currently in Raglan on the North Island. We will be here for two nights. We are at a nice Backpackers Lodge that is right on the ocean. We will be going surfing this afternoon and likely again in the AM. We have had a nice trip on the North Island. We have been around the ocean most of the time. One interesting place that we visited was Hot Beach. And it is just that, there is a hot spring below the beach and at low tide you can dig a few inches down in the sand and there is 64C water coming out. That is about 150F. It is very interesting and a nice relaxing day spot at the beach.
