Well we celebrated the New Year McMurdo style. This means an outdoor all day concert and chili cook off.

There were 7 bands that played the concert and I think 8 contestants in the Chili Cookoff.

The weather was overcast and breezy, but the temps were in the 30’s and so it wasn’t a bad day to be outside hanging out.

Here is a photo of world famous DA Dave. His band was the closing act for the evening.

And no Icestock is complete without the dancing and drinking Cacti.

The Heavy Shop contributed to the cookoff with there own Chili. We have several Texans in the shop and so our official title was Texas Heat.

The is nothing like celebrating the new year by sitting in a steel container and drinking and eating chili.

Don’t ask about this one.

One interesting thing about Antarctica is you can’t be self conscious about your size. Since it is written on the outside of all of you Carhart gear.
