Locust, the Bible, and a Car Wash
Well yesterday was Sunday and what do many people do on Sunday? They go to church. Well we didn't make it to church so they came to us. Wasn't there some reference to Locusts in the Bible??? I sleep through the only bible study class that I ever took in 12th grade English. (I slept through English class, now there is a surprise.) Well we saw Locusts.
The following description is graphic so please shield any childerns eyes that might be in the area when you read this outloud.
So, let me tell you a little story about a Locust. He doesn't have a name. But this Locust one day said to himself; "Self, I would like to go out in the middle of the road and see what I can see." So, the Locust went out in the middle of the road. Well guess what happened? All he saw was the business end of a Goodyear tire. No more Locust. So, now to of his friends saw him laying in the road. And they thought to themselves; "Mmmm, Lunch". Locust are not really too smart if you have not noticed. And so they went into the road to cleanup this first mess. SUPRISE, guess what happened to them. Squish, Squish. And so this evil cycle has continued for many a year now.
Enter Paula and RJ and a Honda yesterday. Well this cycle now includes thousands of Locusts over many miles of road on Rte. 50 in NV. The locals say that it isn't too bad right now, they sometimes use snowplows to clear the road. So, after a nice long day traveling from Green River, UT to Fallon, NV we decided to get a motel room for the night and spend some quality time at the local self service car wash. Locust is not a pretty color on a teardrop.
We are off to explore some towns in NW Nevada today. And we will camp in the National Forest toinght before our entrance into Yosemite on Wednesday morning.
Take care and stay away from Rte. 50!

Fallon, NV..... FALLON!!!! Home of fast trucks, big water, a great website and as of yet you've posted no pictures whatsoever of any of the above?!?!?!?! The one or two of us in the northeast that recognize "Fallon, NV" as one of the top ten reasons to drool pitifully on ourselves would even appreciate a 100% fictitious story about how they let you drive a pumper... or operate a monitor... or flow the proverbial "big water"... I would even settle for a story about the little red things with the stuff on top....
Anxiously waiting,
GW
Hey Aunt Paula and Uncle RJ! It is great to be hearing about your trip. You forgot to tell me when you were leaving, I mean didnt you realize you were missing two passengers(me and tim if you didnt get that)? Well while you two are out killing innocent locusts Tim and I will be brushing up on our bball skills. And by the way, I know your real reason for not coming to the Memorial Day Party, RJ! You didn't want to get schooled playing bball. Sure you were "really with Kevin". Well, tell Aunt Paula that I hear locusts are full of protein and they probably taste as good as that funny smelling water she likes. Have fun!!
Your favorite niece...Rachael(like i need to leave my name)
We had fresh peach ice cream tonight from our own peaches-makes you wish you were in KY again-we do not have locusts here this year.
Did I mention that Sarah Beth qualified for the Eukanuba National Championships in CA along with her brother? Both of them are thrilled.
Take and send more photos too for us visual learners!

Paula and RJ-
What a great spot to spend the 230th birthday of the USA. Any big plans? We are supposed to have a slow moving cold front come through this afternoon or tonight, produce thunderstorms and locally heavy rain, and then drop the temperature 10 ro 15 degrees. There may or may not be fireworks tonight here. Have a good one!
